Meet the Panel

Dietition

Kristin Koskinen, Rdn, Ld, Cd is a registered dietitian nutritionist whose integrative approach to performance nutrition takes the entire person into account. She incorporates the functional aspects of food to help athletes of all levels. As a former dancer, Kristin brings an understanding of the demands involved with being a performing artist. In addition to dancers, she frequently consults with teaching staff and directors on how to support dancer health and nutrition. Based out of the Pacific Northwest, Kristin works with clients across the country thanks to her virtual practice, Eat Well, Live Well.

Physical Therapist

Amy Werner, PT, DPT has over a decade of experience as a physical therapist. She is a retired dancer and is the Director of Dance Medicine for New Heights Physical Therapy. Her dance background taught her to watch movement to the most intimate detail, and she now takes this level of attention and applies it to all of her patients. Amy is highly skilled as a manual therapist and also has experience in women’s health pelvic floor physical therapy.

She provides backstage physical therapy services to professional dance companies in the city, and a contracting physical therapist with NeuroTour, where she also treats musical theater performers with backgrounds as diverse as vocal performance, aerial and circus acts.

Ellové® Instructor

Lisa Buchmiller  began dancing at an early age at Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet in Richland, WA. Classically trained in ballet, tap, and jazz, she performed with Mid-Columbia Ballet under the artistic direction of Debra Pearse Rogo. In college, Lisa discovered her true passion - teaching movement and dance. Lisa is a certified personal trainer since 2003, certified yoga instructor, co-creator of The Ellové Technique® and the Yoga Supervisor at Multnomah Athletic Club. Whether working with clients individually or teaching a class, Lisa combines her expertise in many different disciplines to help students prevent injury and find synergy in their bodies.  Lisa has taught workshops and instructor trainings all over the country. When she is not traveling to teach she resides in Portland, OR and teaches weekly at Multnomah Athletic Club, Nike World Headquarters, The Portland Ballet and BodyVox.  She also serves on the executive board for Oregon Dance Education Organization. 

Pointe Shoe Fitter

Josephine Lee has been classically trained in ballet and grew up working in her mother's dance store renowned for its pointe shoe fittings.

After graduating from USC, she recognized a need for better access to proper pointe shoe fittings and started a traveling pointe shoe fitting company called The Pointe Shop. Pulling from both her dance and fitting experience, she developed a fitting method that analyzes the dancer's technique and skill level with a focus on health.

ThePointeShop services dancers and schools from all over the country including San Francisco Ballet School, Ballet West Academy, Colorado Ballet Academy, and many others and regularly featured in every dance media as the leading expert in pointe shoes. Since its beginning, The Pointe Shop has risen to become one of the top pointe shoe fitters in the country.

New Heights Physical Therapy

Kevin began dancing in the Portland area.  He was a soloist with Houston Ballet and a Principal dancer with Dallas Ballet and stared in the roll of Mr. Mistoffelees on Broadway and throughout  Europe performing in nearly 1000 shows.  Kevin was a quest artist, teacher and children’s coach at Oregon  Ballet Theater, and has taught ballet around the Portland Metro area.  He is currently  learning Flamenco at Espacio Flamenco in Portland.  

Kevin is a co-founder and CEO of New Heights Physical Therapy now in its 23rd year. He is married to former ballerina and Pliates instructor Nicole Cuevas and father of a wonderful young man. Nicole and Kevin were co-choreographers for the Laika film The Boxtrolls.
