Assignment 4

My Feet:

Toes long compared to short length of foot, which is African in shape, with first two toes of similar length, while other 3 taper down. I have very low, but flexible and stronger arches than when I first went on pointe, so I no longer need the softest shank, I believe a medium will work, and last longer. My metatarsals are probably on the medium size for most pointe shoes. I feel that taking my foot as a whole, my heel is much smaller than the metatarsal area, and I have quite compressible feet.

Shoe 1:

I thought the Bloch Whisper looked like a shoe worth trying. I need the pre-arch, and full sole, (curious about 3/4 shanks, but not sure how that would support me, so I think I'd have to try on a pair to know for sure, so I'll just stick with full sole for this assignment). The medium soft shank sounds perfect, a happy medium between a stiffer shank and a super soft shank, so I imagine that would allow me the support and suppleness needed to articulate and remain comfortable in the shoe. The low wings seem like they wouldn't allow enough support, and I don't know if that would be a buckling, aesthetically not pleasing feature I would normally avoid. The wide platform would be nice for the extra stability, maybe worth a try, but I normally have a small platform. The medium vamp is perfect for my foot though.

Shoe 2:

I've always wanted to try Gaynors, and the perfect customization seems like the best choice when I look at other shoes and most features work, but there seems to be 1 or 2 that may make that shoe not a good fit for me after all. I'm only hesitant about which shape of shoe to go with, but the more I think about it, I think I may be a Sleek Fit. I also have no idea what the length is, maybe it goes by street shoe size, so I'll skip that number. So for this shoe I would choose: Model - SK, Length - ?, Width - M, Box - 3, Shank - S or F, Vamp - D, Heel - L
